Taking the Lead

Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it (Dwight D. Eisenhower).

A "leader" is someone who brings people together and guides them toward a common goal. Anyone can tell others what to do, but effective leadership requires much more than the ability to assign tasks to a group. Leaders set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new.

This course will help you to discover nine competencies of true leaders in areas like passion, integrity, and humour that lie well beyond the ordinary confines of management theory and practice, yet they contribute greatly to what we recognize as true leadership. You will explore how to become a better leader by taking honourable action. You will learn how to use your emotions in a smart way, and understand the sources of leadership power, the primary ways to handle resistance to change, and developing and communicating your vision.
